Golden Globes! Golden Globes! Golden Globes!
It’s award season! One of my favourite time’s of year! The 75th Annual Golden Globes were last night and as always, everyone looked gorgeous. This years’ award show made history with nearly all who attended wore all black, to signify their stand and support for the Time’s Up movement. The heavy hitters this year was of course Oprah Winfrey and her amazing speech for winning the 2018 Cecil B. DeMille award, Elisabeth Moss who won Best Actress in a Television Series Drama (The Handmaid’s Tale) and the HBO Series Big Little Lies. Big little lies took home 4 big awards:
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Alexander Skarsgård)
- Best Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made for Television
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television ( Laura Dern)
- Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie ( Nicole Kidman)
I have always been a fan of Nicole Kidman but to be honest, I had never even heard of Big Little Lies…I actually had to google it. I usually love most HBO series so I was shocked and immediately put it on my “to watch” list. For info and synopsis of the series, go here. The series also stars Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley. I have always loved Reese Witherspoon and will watch pretty much anything she’s in, so that really sealed the deal for me to watch this series!
The one thing I would have loved to see is more accessories. As everyone was wearing black, you’re very limited in your choices, although there were some stunning dresses! I feel like there could have been more bling all around….necklaces, earrings, even the shoes were kind of boring! To top it off, not one celeb wore a hat! Some men go all out with top hats, Johnny Depp has been seen wearing a hat or 2 on the red carpet but alas…I digress…
If I could wear a hat though, I’d wear something like our Kentucky Nights hat or our El Paso Stylish Hat. Both hats are statement pieces, with the ability to be made in black (of course) coupled with their large brims and simplistic style, it would have been a nice touch to finish an outfit. For the men, I would have chosen a traditional Bowler Hat such as our Victorian Bowler or Classic Derby hat.
It was an amazing night full of amazing speeches, people and fashion. This award season is going to be ground breaking this year!
