We watched a great series – Ripper Street – that hit the screen in 2012. This BBC drama is set in 1889 London, and furthermore takes place about 6 months after the Jack the Ripper murders. The detectives chase leads around the Whitechapel division where the murders occurred. And they have to do all of this while attempting to calm the hysteria in the area.
The Bowler Brothers designed the first Bowler hat in 1849. The makers of the hat originally designed it for gamekeepers on horseback. The standard style of hat at the time was a top hat, and they were seen everywhere. But the hat design was not ideal because men wearing the tall hats kept getting their hats knocked off by low-hanging branches. Gamekeepers liked this new, shorter crown design because it was close fitting and short-brimmed – ideal for a gamekeeper!
We think our Victorian Bowler is stylish and therefore is the perfect accessory for stepping out in your finest.
- Experts say that beaver fur felt is superior to all other hat felts because it is smooth in texture, light weight and resistant to all types of weather. We make our 100X hats with 100% pure beaver fur felt. And we think its look and feel makes it our most luxurious material.
